FAQs
Every light source has it's own benefits . . .
almost any Light Source can be used as
an energy saving intermittent light
The name Chopper Light is derived from –CHOPPED- light, which means the light is produced as an intermittent pulse. The biggest original benefit was the energy savings without reduction of the photosynthetic rate.
For example the developed PCL technology, allows the full independent illumination which automatically adapts to the needs of plants. Using any controllable light source connected to the PCL control, the illumination will turn on and off by itself, depending on the actual saturation of the plant. Because it adapts to the needs of the plant, the energy is always optimized. Less energy means more profit to the customer.
Several investigations have shown that the use of intermittent light for plants, results in savings of up to 50 % energy on light and cooling.
The Chopper Light Company offers complete technical advice and service beginning with calculating requirements of a facility, through installation and maintenance of the installed system. The company’s own engineering experts provide extensive support.
After installation of the equipment and controls by a specialist, PCL even can work on its own. The light control patterns can be monitored without interference of the cycle.
Chopper Light intermittent light fixtures are installed like any other common light fixtures and can easily be adjusted according to the customer’s experience with the growth of the plant.
For advanced control or connection to other systems in greenhouses, Chopper Light systems feature different kinds of IT-interfaces upon customer request.
Using Chopper Light in combination with fluorescent tubes, the light spectrum can be varied from red to blue. This allows modification of the balance between the growth of roots, vegetation and flowers. Also the light arrangemant of fluorescent tubes is optimized to the needs of plants, during decades of investigation.
The Plant Controlled Light Technology, called PCL for short, provides lighting controls adapted to the needs of a living plant by measuring the CO2 uptake curve of a representative plant in the field and was developed as an advancement of the Chopper Light System.
(also see PCL)
For the small application, we offer the " Chopper Light Table Top ". This 2 tube lamp includes the adapting equipment and one controller. A great way to get satisfied about the function of intermittent light.
As soon as you think about modification of your light system to "Chopper Light", we check out your requirements and send you an offer. At last, you decide what you buy.
